Three years ago, a funny little TikTok trend about giving out potatoes on Halloween made us laugh — so we decided to join in. What started as a lighthearted idea has become something much bigger. Every year since, our house has become known as the Potato House in town. Kids actually look forward to getting their potatoes (and, of course, candy!) — it’s become a tradition that brings so much joy and laughter to our community.
But this year, God took our “potato ministry” even further. Along with 20 pounds of potatoes and over 900 pieces of candy, we also handed out 50 LifeBooks, which contain the full Gospel of Mark and a clear message of salvation through Jesus. That means 50 people — children, teens, and parents — left with the living, breathing Word of God in their hands.
Isaiah 55:11 reminds us:
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
We may never know all the hearts those little books will touch, but we trust God’s promise — His Word never returns void. Whether it’s through a piece of candy, a warm smile, or even a humble potato, His love is being planted one seed at a time.
